Layers of Movement – Malou Weijs

Layers of Movement – Malou Weijs

The objects are made of a two-component material consisting of mineral powder and water-based acrylic resin. The material is cast in several layers of different thicknesses and sizes. This layering becomes visible through the use of the CNC milling machine. By creating a repeating 2D pattern, using different milling tools and entering different depths, a visually interesting experience is created.

In this project Malou Weijs looked for the possibilities to create a small moment of wonder. Because of her fascination for dynamic moments in our daily lives She started working with different materials and techniques that can have the same feeling when coming together. Texture and use of colour form the basis for this research and are influenced by the natural light and the position of the observer. This interaction of elements plays with perception and triggers curiosity and interaction with the object.
